Madame Tussauds Budapest - Curtains for Installations
The capital's attraction will feature 51 lifelike wax figures of international and Hungarian celebrities, with 17 Hungarians among them.
We were commissioned to create the installations for the figures; we had to make curtains for 4 installations in the exhibition.
We contributed to the following celebrity dioramas: Ferenc Liszt, Mihály Munkácsy, Harry Houdini, Jimmy Zámbó
It is a great and complex task to work together with other designers and contractors in order to achieve a harmonious overall result.
At the same time, it was a challenge to work with all the disciplines simultaneously, which was no easy task in terms of textile protection.
Before the curtains were designed and sewn, the selection of materials took several months. A lot of curtain material samples were viewed by the customer.
Several installations required manual sewing, which increased the production time.
► For a project, it means a lot that we can build on our previous experience and draw from it.
However, in the case of Madame Tussauds Budapest — although it is also a building site where we have to place our installation — it was far from easy, given that there was no precedent for opening a museum of this type in Hungary.
Thus the extras that add that extra something to our materials that makes our work stand out had to be implemented here with a higher level of creativity, which we hope we have fully achieved.

► Finally, we had a few weeks to sew the covers and curtains, during which time we were out on site several times to observe the construction of the exhibition and to keep track of the changes.
Using information gathered and regularly updated on the spot, we have modified the finished products in our sewing room.
With very little time to solve the unexpected, several colleagues from the sector were involved in solving the challenges.

Madame Tussauds Budapest offers a unique experience and entertainment for the general public in the heart of the capital, on the lower level of the Palazzo Dorottya, a magnificent historic building, on 2000 square metres.
The tourist attraction, created in cooperation between the rights holder Merlin Entertainments and Dorottya Experience Kft, presents wax figures of international and Hungarian celebrities, A-list music and sports legends, and famous world leaders in an interactive and iconic environment, with incredibly lifelike depictions.

On behalf of the partner, we had to equip the BETON FOTO&VIDEO studio with curtains that allow the studio to perform several functions: It had to be suitable for shooting and photography tasks alike.
