Design and installation of an LED video wall and PA sound system for BEACH ARENA CSOPAK

We designed an LED video wall and sound system with all the necessary accessories for the newly constructed BEACH ARENA CSOPAK – the largest beach sports centre at Lake Balaton.

The client's concept was to set up an LED video wall that could be seen from as many places as possible – especially from the beach volleyball court and the restaurant area – and where any content or TV broadcast could also be displayed.

The sound system had to be set up so that the beach volleyball court and the restaurant area could be amplified separately or in tandem. In addition, the LED video wall and the sound system had to work in sync.

We had a chat on-site with the client about the planned layout for the LED video wall and sound system.

During the design phase we had to keep the following factors in mind:

► The features of the area, the buildings, and the tracks.

► Secure fixing of the LED video wall mount.

► The system should be able to display sports matches and any kind of visual or video content, while keeping future expansion options in mind.

► The option to control the sound systems for the volleyball court and the dining area separately and in tandem, also taking future expandability into account.

Since the venue was still under construction, we had to work really closely with various disciplines, and there were regular consultations to keep everything on track.

There was also an important deadline for the schedule of works: all systems had to be in perfect working order for the 2024 Hungarian Beach Volleyball Championships.

► LED video wall

During the on-site surveys, the first thing we examined was what size LED video wall would best fit the needs; one that is clearly visible from all directions, but not too ostentatious, and blends in nicely with the surroundings.

We ended up designing an LED video wall with a resolution of P3.9 mm, measuring 5 metres wide and 3 metres high, totalling 15 square metres, with a custom-made support structure.

We suggested adding an independent media player alongside the LED video wall's control processor, with a laptop for management and various other inputs, as well as a dedicated entrance for the TV media box.

► PA sound system

We designed the sound system as two separate systems, each containing an amp, mixer, media player, and eight speakers. The two systems can run separately or in tandem, and they also have two-way communication capabilities.

The system includes a two-piece mic set in a carrying case, which can be freely used around different parts of the venue, depending on the type of event hosted.

► High- and low-voltage

The client's team handled the high- and low-voltage cabling, as well as the installation, thus we had to closely cooperate with them. We worked together to determine the type and number of cables, the connectors, and where they all needed to be plugged in.

► Installation

We performed the installation in several stages. First we secured the mounting brackets for the support structure, then we installed the final support system in place.

The next step was setting up the speakers: we mounted them on the building at the restaurant area, and on the net support poles out on the field.

Finally, we set up the control units that ensure the systems running smoothly.

► Testing and operation

After finishing implementation, the entire system was tested at full load. We passed on the necessary know-how to keep the system running smoothly to the client's team.
