Visual Technology | À LA RECHERCHE DE VERA MOLNAR – ARTWORKS BY VERA MOLNAR AND HOMAGES BY INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED ARTISTS
The Ludwig Museum's À la recherche de Vera Molnar exhibition pays tribute to the life's work of Vera Molnar, who died shortly before her 100th birthday.
Our assignment entailed the procurement and installation of visual equipment needed for the exhibition.
—
At the beginning of December 2023, we were approached from France to be visual technology partners for a future exhibition project.
There was still a month and a half left until the construction of the exhibition; the upcoming Christmas and New Year shutdowns, however, presented our team with minor procurement and logistical challenges.
The initial equipment list sent to us in advance included numerous pieces of visual technology devices, video players and other additional pieces of equipment. A more precise list of devices only arrived before Christmas.
► We received the requests broken down for each exhibitor, which included:
• 4K resolution projectors with 12,000 lumens of brightness,
• 110" and 86" monitors,
• Mac Mini computers,
• media players,
• VR headsets,
• and the many accessories needed for the equipment.
Construction was at this point just under 1 month away.
► After finalising the technical equipment for the exhibition, we managed to get all the necessary devices despite the Christmas disruption.
—
► In addition to assembling the technical equipment for an exhibition site, we also had the task of installing it.
In order to work efficiently, we contacted the Ludwig Museum long before construction started.
We had a joint site visit, we consulted and tried to prepare for everything that could happen during the construction period.
For the installation, we sent a complete team including a technical manager, a technician and an IT specialist. This meant that we were able to deal with requests and changes on the fly.
—
► There were 7 exhibitors whose technical requests were met:
• Refik ANADOL
• Snow Yunxue FU
• Frieder NAKE
• Casey REAS
• Antoine SCHMITT
• Tamiko THIEL
• Samuel YAN
On the day before the exhibition's grand opening, everything was ready; we handed over the equipment, repeatedly checked and in working order.

The German couple, Irene and Peter Ludwig, who were the founders of the Ludwig Museum – Museum of Contemporary Art, Budapest, had a collection of more than 12 thousand works of art, ranging from antiquities to contemporary art. The pieces they have donated or lent are on display at 30 museums worldwide – 12 of which bear the couple's name –, including institutions in Budapest, Cologne, Vienna and Beijing.
The Ludwig Museum in Budapest – the first to be established beyond the former Iron Curtain – was founded in 1989, following the creation of their Hungarian foundation in 1987. 70 major international works of art were donated to the Budapest institution and 95 works were deposited, establishing the museum's international collection and creating Hungary's first contemporary art museum.
The first permanent exhibition of the new museum opened in 1991 in the 'A' Building of the Buda Castle Palace, organised by the Hungarian National Gallery. In 1996, the museum became the Museum of Contemporary Art and added significant Hungarian material; in 2005 it moved to Müpa Budapest (formerly: Palace of Arts).
