Design and Installation of LED Video Wall and Control System for the Septimia Sport Klub Bowling Alley

In Odorheiu Secuiesc, in Septimia Resort, located next to the Szejke Stream, the idea of Septimia Sport Klub Bowling Egyesület was to install an LED video wall at the end of the bowling alley, so that the content can be displayed on it as desired.

► We were commissioned to design and install the LED video wall and the control system.

It was expected that the control system would be able to divide the entire physical screen into several smaller virtual screens, so that content can be played separately on them.

In addition, it was expected that the images of the scoreboard monitors belonging to each course could be displayed on the virtual screens, as well as on the LED scoreboards.

The control system should also be able to receive content broadcast in the sports media and display it on the LED video wall.

► Project tasks were:

- LED video wall design.

- Control system design.

- Integration of playback software into the control system.

- High- and low-current design and construction.

- Preliminary testing: testing the LED video wall and the control system and optimizing their operation in our warehouse in Budapest.

- On-site delivery.

- LED video wall installation.

- Control system installation.

- Connection to the local AV system and Internet network.

- Connection to the video system of the bowling machines.

- Testing during normal use.

- Training: training the operating staff on the routine use of the system.

We also had to calculate with the customer's expectations and on-site conditions when designing the LED video wall and the control system.

► During the project, we had to take the following into account:

- The features of the building; the supporting columns of the building break the space every two tracks.

- During the installation, the surface of the bowling alley had to be protected against damage.

- It had to be ensured that after installing the LED video wall, the back of the bowling machines can still be accessed without hindrance during operation.

- Operation and maintenance of the LED video wall and related equipment should be simple.

- The entire physical screen must be able to be divided into several smaller virtual screens so that content can even be played separately on them.

- It is important that the images of the scoreboard monitors belonging to the bowling alleys can also be displayed on the LED video wall.

- The control system should be able to receive and display sports matches broadcast on media channels, as well as any image or video content.

► During the on-site survey, we first examined the maximum LED video wall size that can be placed on the marked wall surface.

Since we definitely wanted the LED video wall to be built into one unit, without spaces, access to the back of the bowling machines was solved by installing a staircase in front of the LED video wall; so you can go down in front of the LED video wall and then back to the machines.

Previously, in place of the LED video wall, a door opened into the machine room.

► Based on the measurements, we determined the final LED video wall size, taking into account the possibility of installation and subsequent repairability, which became 12 meters wide and 2.25 meters high, and the exact position of the LED video wall. In this way, we created 3 LED screens with an aspect ratio of exactly 16:9 next to each other.

The LED video wall is of P3.9 mm indoor design, which can be attached directly to the wall.

► The installation site was completely prepared by the client's team, regarding which we cross-checked on a weekly basis in the months before the installation.

For the LED video wall,

- they made a continuous OSB and plasterboard wall,

- they prepared the high- and low-current fixtures,

- they also ran the SDI cables we provided between the bowling monitors and the future location of the LED video wall control.

► Meanwhile, we designed the control system. We have equipped the video processor with all input and output cards that handle the needs that arise.

To manage the system and display 4K video content, we supplied a custom-built computer supplemented with the GSZ Player media software developed by us.

We assembled the control system beforehand in our warehouse in Budapest and tested it.

► For the duration of the installation, we determined a four-day period during which the bowling alley was closed; during this period, our pre-prepared team installed the LED video wall and the control system.

- First, the LED cabinets were attached to the wall.

- Then we connected the high- and low-current cables to the LED video wall.

- Next came the installation of the LED display modules.

- We placed the control system in the agreed position and connected it to the local sound system and the Internet network.

- The video signals from the AV system of the bowling alley were delivered to the processor via HDMI-SDI converters and SDI cables.

- After the implementation, the entire system was tested at full load.

- We provided the customer with the necessary knowledge to use the LED video wall and the control system.

► We met the construction deadline; we have successfully delivered the project.
